Rock Faces in Rustlers Valley. How many faces can you see ? Send me a count at webmaster@placenamesa.com
Maybe, the most famous great place was "The Great Place" - the royal homestead of the Rharhabe cheif Ngcika (known to europeans as Gaika). Ngcika was one of the notable players in the history of the eastern Cape frontier conflicts of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. For many years, from 1799 his "Great Place" was shared by his erstwhile friend 'Khula' or Coenraad de Buys. The famous stronghold was apparently in the Tyumi river valley, just south of Hogsback. There are many other 'special' Great Places, everyone has their special place. These are the one I have and I would like to share them. There are some places you just have to visit. A great place is not necessarily a famous place. It does not even have to be particularly spectacular. A great place is one that holds something special in its soul. You have to go there to feel it. Here is the beginning of a collection. Follow the links at the bottom of the page.
